Zahara de los Atunes is a small coastal town located on the Costa de la Luz, on the Atlantic Ocean, in Andalusia. This small village of more than 1,000 inhabitants is one of the most picturesque on the beautiful Costa de la Luz. It is best known for its almadraba, an ancient tuna fishery that benefits from its strategic position on the passage of bluefin tuna migrations from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
The second main attraction of Zahara de los Atunes is its beaches with crystal clear water and golden sand. The most famous beaches are: Cañillos or El Cañuelo beach, and Los Alemanes beach. On Zahara beach (with Blue Flag status) you can enjoy a wide range of water sports. You can also visit the Palacio de Pilas, a 15th century palace which has no equivalent in the region. There are also many caves decorated with cave paintings that you can discover.
